On a recent visit to Aruba, my family and I had the pleasure of securing reservations at a quaint, highly rated, restaurant known as Papiemento. After a wonderful meal and desert, our waiter offered us a rather self-guided tour through the restaurant which consisted of an impressive wine cellar, an unused private dining area which served as somewhat of a museum, a cigar store and smoking room, and an outdoor smoking lounge. As is my nature, I wondered off tour and stayed behind in the dining room which honestly was giving me the creeps. Seeing as I was in the middle of editing our Paranormal episode and had become obsessed with presenting an awesome finished episode (which was driving my family and my co-hosts insane ... little did they know, or maybe they did, it was driving me insane too) anyway I had rigged my cell phone up as a digital ghost hunting device, which I whipped out everywhere without any success for months. Not tonight, tonight I would be different. So, I began to wander around the establishment like I owned the place, ending up beyond a chained off area behind the outdoor smoking lounge. I had followed the red blip on my radar-like circular screen and it was there I encountered HER. She was before me for only several seconds and the cries of my family, as well as the annoyed commands of the smoke lounge attendant all demanded that I, "get out of there." I complied, but I knew I had captured something, something real, something tangible. Ignoring those around me I opened the video track and there SHE was, in all her spectral splendor.
I immediately transferred the video to an app that would allow me to crop and isolate color levels. A few clicks and a few crimps and cuts and I had an amazing video of something ... some type of entity ... a ghost is what I prefer, but everyone has their own explanation. My family kinda shook their heads at my embarrassing behavior. I purchased a few Cubans, even though I don't smoke, to make nice, and headed towards the entrance as our car had arrived. I was stopped midway by the waiter who was apparently rather savvy to what I had been doing. He asked if I had seen anything and I quickly, and proudly, presented my footage. This immediately resulted in a very animated, and uncharacteristic for this level of establishment, waiter. "Wait ... wait," he commanded as my family called after me. Not wanting to be in the dog house, or in this case, the dog hut, I headed to the exit. Just as I arrived at my family I was accosted by my waiter and a newly appearing female. "I am the manager," she excitedly announced, "may I please see what you captured on video?" Eagerly, I whipped out my cell and showed the manager the video. To everyone's surprise, she began to sob, tugging on my arm and uttering, "thank you ... thank you," between her cries of what I would learn, were cries of relief. She went on to tell us all that she has seen the figure in my video several times over the past few years. When she was there late, closing up on her own, she would catch the apparition out of the corner of her eye, or passing outside by a window or a door. She further told us that no one believed her, and thought she was making things up or spinning tales to entice those who wish to dine in a haunted surrounding to visit the restaurant. Now, this several seconds of video, had vindicated her and it was a tremendous relief for her. We exchanged information and she has offered to be interviewed which I hope to do in the near future. For now, you have HER. In the original footage with some color play to isolate the color spectrum which best was visible. There has been no other video enhancing or game play.
Enjoy the video of The Ghost of Papiemento. And if you happen to make it to Aruba, be sure to get reservations and visit the outdoor lounge should you dare.
